On Thursday, the Cincinnati Bengals announced the signing of veteran S Danieal Manning. The upcoming 2014 season will be his ninth season in the NFL. Manning has prior stops with the Houston Texans and the Chicago Bears. He started his career as a 2006 second-round pick for the Bears. Manning (5’11, 212, Abilene Christian) has played in 112 games and started 91. He also has nine playoff starts in his career, which include a start in a Superbowl XLI loss vs. the Indianapolis Colts.
Manning has more than 500 tackles, 11 interceptions, nine forced fumbles and two blocked field goals. He is also experienced in returning kickoffs. Manning also has one postseason interception which ironically came against the Bengals. Last season, he played in six games for the Texans and finished the season with 24 tackles and two passes defensed. His 2013 season ended with a knee injury in October against the St. Louis Rams. The Texans released him on Monday.
