Cincinnati Bengals sign former first round pick LB Aaron Maybin (Video)

The Cincinnati Bengals website confirmed signing free agent LB Aaron Maybin (Penn State) today to a future contract.

Maybin is a former first round draft pick selected by the Buffalo Bills in 2009, where he spent two seasons.

After two years with Buffalo, they released him. He then spent 2011-2012 with the New York Jets.

He didn’t record a sack until his third NFL season with the New York Jets, where he led the defense with six sacks. He won’t count towards the active list until after the SuperBowl.

The Bleacher Report says Maybin hasn’t lived up to his billing as a first round pick, but he could fit into the Bengals defensive scheme. The Bengals rotate their defensive players so he won’t be expected to play every down.

Also, the Bengals have five defensive players that will soon become unrestricted free agents: Manny Lawson, Rey Maualuga, Vincent Rey, Dan Skuta and Thomas Howard. Maybin is an experienced linebacker with 47 games.
