Cincinnati Bengals player arrested for assaulting his wife

Cincinnati Bengals player S Robert Sands was arrested earlier today for assaulting his wife at their Florence home. She was released from the hospital with minor injuries. Police have charged him with assault and domestic violence.

Sands is a two year player and didn’t appear in any regular season games this season. The team placed him on the Reserve/Injury list on August 24th after suffering a chest injury.

He is out on bond and will have a future court date.

The incident shouldn’t overshadow tomorrow’s effort against the Houston Texans (12-4) in the first round of the playoffs.

The Bengals (10-6) will try to do something they haven’t done since January 6, 1991—win a playoff game. In that game, the Bengals crushed the Houston Oilers 41-14.

In last year’s wildcard week, the Texans ended the Bengals playoff hopes by a lopsided 31-10 score.

Kickoff time is at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday at Reliant Stadium in Houston.
