Cincinnati Bengals' wide receiver A. J. Green had a productive Pro Bowl appearance on Sunday evening, coming up big with three touchdowns.
The 2013 Pro Bowl was A. J. Green’s second Pro Bowl appearance in only his second year in the NFL; the only other wide receivers to make the Pro Bowl in both of the their first two seasons are Randy Moss and Cris Collinsworth. Green showed the honor was well deserved.
During the course of the game, A. J. Green caught one pass for a touchdown from Denver Broncos’ Peyton Manning and two from Indianapolis Colts’ rookie QB Andrew Luck. His final touchdown catch, thrown by Luck, was a 49-yard bomb.
When the Pro Bowl commenced, the AFC lost 62-35, but A. J. Green left nothing on the field coming away with an impressive 119-yards.
Other Cincinnati Bengals Pro Bowl participants did their job with Jermaine Gresham catching a pass, Geno Atkins procuring a tackle, and Andrew Whitworth stepped up to the role of right tackle.
Whitworth commented on coming away from the game with more than just on the field experience, picking the minds of Peyton and Eli Manning, Packers' Jeff Saturday and Cowboys' Jason Witten.
“Asking about team, leadership, stuff like that. I’m just trying to push us over the hump. We’ve been good the last two years. I want us to be great,” said Whitworth.
While A. J. Green’s on the field Pro Bowl performance was undeniably impressive, Andrew Whitworth’s focus on the future and big picture is equally commendable.
