According to a news release by the Pittsfield Township police, a lone thief broke into a Washtenaw Avenue business Monday morning and came away with an undisclosed amount of cigarettes. Early this afternoon police added a surveillance photo of the suspect.
Police say a security alarm went off at about 1:34 a.m. this morning in a business on the 4000 block of Washtenaw near Carpenter Road and US-23.
Responding officers found evidence of a break-in and theft of the smokes.
The Ann Arbor police brought in a K-9 unit to help find the perpetrator, but the dog was not successful.
Police released a surveillance photo of the suspect at about 12:50 p.m. this afternoon.
The suspect is described as a white male in his late teens or early twenties, about six feet tall, having a slight build, with short, sandy blonde hair.
No further information on this theft was available.
Police have acknowledged reports of cigarette thefts in Washtenaw, Monroe and Lenawee counties during the month of January.
