Cigar City Brewing Releases 110K+OT Batch 4 Today

Tampa- Today Cigar City Brewing released their latest limited beer, the fourth batch in the 110K+OT Series.  These one-time releases are the closest that Cigar City comes to making an anniversary beer, and are named for a thread on ratebeer.com where a member of the site boasted of his salary while asking others how much money they made.  These beers have a reputation to uphold, apparently.  From the bottle(s):

“1101K+OT is not for college pukes, white collar sissy boys or mamby-pamby Nancy boys who haven’t done an honest day’s work in their lives. Nor is this beer for the common man. This beer is for the working man who has arrived. If your work boots are steel toed, come back when they are gold toed!

110K+OT is reserved for the hard-working man with a taste for the finer things in life and the curiously structured salary that allows him to obtain them. In fact if you are reading this you probably attended college and should just put this beer back on the shelf for a real man to buy.
110K+OT varies from year to year, but will always be a brash style-bending brew that pairs well with sweat, clenched knuckles and over the top bravado.”

This year’s batch takes the base recipe of Tocabaga Red Ale and kicks it up a notch.  This beer has a hefty malt backbone, a substantial hop presence, the qualities of an imperial red ale, and ands up about 10% alcohol by volume.  The beer is wonderfully large in body, malt presence (think caramel/ toffee), and  hop burst (think grapefruit, tart citrus, and some pine).  This batch of 110K+OT lives up to the brash, bold, reputation of the other three batches (batch one was a smoked beer, batch two was a hoppy imperial stout, and batch three was an intensely citrusy imperial India pale ale).

This beer also kicks off Cigar City’s new cigar-style labels designed by the brewery’s new label designer, Geiger Powell.  The brewery is in the process of reimagining their labels to truly embrace the brewery’s name and Tampa history.  The new labels are designed to emulate cigar labels, as homage to Tampa’s cigar-rolling past.

This beer will be available in 750 mL bottles in the next few weeks, or if waiting is not an option, then 110K+OT Batch 4 is available on draft and in bottles at the brewery right now.
