Ciara, Malibu Rum, shake it up at Beekman Beach Club

THE TUNES WERE thumpin' and the juice flowing last night at the NYC leg of Malibu Rum's Radio Maliboom Boom Station Invasion Concert Tour. The party, which featured singer Ciara, took place August 4 at the Beekman Beer Garden Beach Club in Southstreet Seaport.

Ciara and DJ Skribble rocked the house, while guests sipped Malibu's refreshing signature Liquid Sunshine (recipe below). The white latex-clad Ciara tore up the intimate stage with tracks like "Goodies," "Oh" and "Ride." Perfect weather, a sand-covered pier and views of the Williamsburg and Manhattan Bridges added to the joyous vibe.

Guests also got the chance to check out the new Malibu Black, a higher proof interpretation of Malibu's iconic coconut-flavored rum. At 70 proof, Black is significantly stronger than the regular 42 proof rum. Yet the coconut is not overpowered by the alcohol, and the rich amber color is rewarding. The higher proof means Malibu Black stands up nicely against Coke, ginger beer or stronger citruses, like pineapple. Just remember you're drinking the strong stuff now.
