Clare Lopez, who spent over two decades at the CIA as an operations officer, on Thursday told Garth Kant of WND that President Obama and his administration have switched sides on the war on terror and has done so since Obama took office in 2009 when Obama supported the downfall of former Egyptian President, Hosni Mubarak and the ensuing conflicts now taking place in the Middle East.
Kant stated that Lopez told him what a few members of Congress have told WND in private, but declined to say on-the-record and that puts America in more of a danger of inside attacks. She told Kant that the global war on terror had been an effort to “stay free of Shariah,” or repressive Islamic law, but that had all changed when the Obama administration began siding with such jihadist groups as the Muslim Brotherhood and its affiliates.
Lopez said due to the actions of President Obama and his administration, “It was time to bring down the secular Muslim rulers who did not enforce Islamic law… and America helped.”
Lopez explained to WND back on August 13, 2014 that President Obama’s plan for the Middle East is just what Osama bin Laden would have wanted is to remove U.S. troops and put the radical Islamic jihadist’s in power, which has helped the rise of the radical terrorists in in Egypt, Libya, and Syria. Today, the world is witnessing the rise of ISIS, a far more dangerous terrorist group than al-Qaeda under Osama Bin Laden.
She further said, “The administration’s plan, I believe, is to remove American power and influence, including military forces, from Islamic lands,” Lopez asserted. When WND remarked that was just what Osama bin Laden had demanded, Lopez pointed out that is the aim of all jihadis, “Because that is what Islam demands, that foreign forces be kicked out of Islamic lands.”
Lopez also said, “As Israel fought enemies on all sides to remain free, secure and Jewish, America began to move away from Israel and toward its Muslim enemies. And, as Iran moved inexorably toward a deliverable nuclear weapons capability, America helped.”
Lopez further told WND that she is concerned that nobody in American leadership really sees or understands the big picture, and the U.S. seems to be manipulated to fulfill objectives that are not in its best interests. “From my perspective, I’m seeing American national security interests steadily eroded, almost everywhere we look, and the forces of adversaries and enemies advancing. But, of course, to see this, it’s necessary first to know who we are as a people, what are our ‘first things’?, ”Lopez said.
Meanwhile, Fox News is reporting on Thursday that a rift has developed between Al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri and the leader of ISIS with ramifications well beyond the region and are emerging as sworn enemies. Fox News stated that the rift centers on the split between Al Qaeda’s regional affiliate, Jabhat al-Nusra, and the newly emerged Islamic State, which are fighting each other on the battlefield and in the war for recruits for the cause of Islamic terrorism.
Middle East scholar, Aaron Zelin in a research paper published by the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, a U.S.-based think tank told Fox News, “The two groups are now in an open war for supremacy of the global jihadist movement."
