Church youth group volunteer accused of molesting children in metro Atlanta

A 25-year-old church youth group volunteer allegedly molested three juveniles and police are investigating a report of a fourth victim, officials said Tuesday.

Police have charged Mr. Cesar Pastrana, of Spangle Circle in Kennesaw, with aggravated child molestation, child molestation and sexual battery, Cobb County police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce said.

Mr. Pastrana is accused of molesting a juvenile who attended a youth group lock-in called "THRIVE," held Feb. 3 and 4 by Kennesaw's Northstar Church at a Cobb County home, Sgt. Pierce said.

A family member reported the first alleged incident to Acworth police and as a result of that case, Cobb County police began their own investigation, Sgt. Pierce said.

Cobb County investigators found two other juveniles who were allegedly molested at a private residence in late December 2010 to early January in unincorporated Cobb, Sgt. Pierce said.

And on Monday, they were investigating a report of another alleged victim, Sgt. Pierce said.

Now police are searching for other victims in the metro Atlanta area where Mr. Pastrana may have been present as a volunteer.

“That’s the thrust for putting this out,” Sgt. Pierce said. “In the metro Atlanta area, he also volunteered for other youth-based events. We’re talking about schools and other private events.

“We are working on this additional case and investigators are confident there are other victims out there.”

He declined to release the age range of the alleged victims or their genders

Anyone with information about any cases that may involve Mr. Pastrana should call the Cobb police's Crimes Against Children Unit at (770) 801-3470.
