This coming Sunday is the third Sunday of the month. That makes it the date for the next concert in the Third Sunday Series organized by Paul Ellison at the Church of the Advent. This month the featured artist will be Adaiha MacAdam-Somer, who has distinguished herself with a command of a wide diversity of music from the cello repertoire. Her efforts led to her winning the 2012 Bach Competition organized by Voices of Music, for which she performed the solo cello suites BWV 1011 in C minor and BWV 1007 in G major at the annual Voice of Music Evening with the Stars concert in February of 2012. The summer of that same year she was a student in the American Bach Soloists (ABS) Festival & Academy, where she was a member of a viol consort performing in the Academy-in-Action recital series.
MacAdam-Somer’s Third Sunday Series recital will offer a program of Baroque cello music. She has prepared music by Georg Philipp Telemann, Willem de Fesch, and Andrea Caporale. She will also be joined by another member of her ABS Academy viol consort, Hallie Pridham, for duo performance.
Third Sunday Series concerts begin at 4 p.m. MacAdam-Somer’s recital will take place this Sunday, December 15. The Church of the Advent of Christ the King is located at 261 Fell Street, between Franklin Street and Gough Street. Admission is by donation with a suggested amount of between $10 and $20. For those coming by car, there is a parking lot adjacent to the church.
