Guitarist and lead vocalist of the punk group Hot Water Water, Chuck Ragan is slated to release his folk rock follow-up to 2011's Covering Ground with his forthcoming record, Til Midnight. The album drops on March 25 via SideOneDummy Records.
The release date came alongside a newly streaming track, entitled "Non Typical," which can be streamed over at Rolling Stone. The song displays Ragan's trademark gristle, with scratchy vocals belting out stomping bluesy americana fueled folk rock. It's a little bit Bob Dylan, a touch of Tom Petty, with hints of dive bar madness.
Til Midnight, produced by Christopher Thorn (AWOL Nation, Blind Melon), will features musical cameos from the likes of keyboardist Rami Jaffe (Foo Fighters, Wallflowers), Ben Nichols (Lucero), Dave Hause and members of Drag the River.
"In preparation for the album – which also features titles including 'Something May Catch Fire,' 'Vagabond,' 'Bedroll Lullaby' and 'Wake With You' – Ragan holed up for a week at his home in northern California with his band the Camaraderie – guitarist-pedal steel player Todd Beene, fiddler Jon Gaunt and bassist Joe Ginsberg, and new drummer David Hidalgo Jr., currently of Social Distortion and formerly of Suicidal Tendencies. From there, the group road-tested the songs across Europe."
