He didn’t die—
Of course, the very thought of Chuck Norris dying is so preposterous in the eyes of many that the recent Facebook scam claiming his death at the age of 71 was not only brushed aside by most, Mr. Norris probably visited the originator of the scam and promptly administered the boot of education to the seat of his or her pants for the misinformation.
Facebook scam
The first inkling of the phishing scam was picked up by security company, Sophos on Facebook. The scam lulls readers into believing that Norris had passed:
"Chuck Norris dies at age 71! Not a joke. See the video to find out how he died."
Any gullible or curious people who clicked on the link was immediately taken to a survey scam that asks them for their contact information, and date of birth in order to qualify for a free HDTV or Starbucks gift card.
Chuck “facts”
Chuck Norris “facts” have proliferated on the Internet for several years now with the butt of the joke being Norris’ superhuman abilities, macho strength, and attitude. A recent advertisement for World of Warcraft even modifies an old Norris joke by declaring:
“There are 10 million people in the World of Warcraft because Chuck Norris allows them to live!”
Other popular jokes about Norris declare that “He doesn’t play video games, he beats them” and the election favorite “A man once told Chuck Norris to run for president. Chuck Norris immediately round-house kicked the man and stated, ‘I never run!’"
He fought against Bruce
Bruce Lee, martial artist extraordinaire, faced off against a young karate champion by the name of Chuck Norris in the film Return of the Dragon in 1972. Norris’ exposure in the film helped him to springboard his career in film and later, into television.
Still going strong
Norris, born March 20, 1940, is still active and dedicates his time in philanthropic activities, physical fitness education, managing his own martial arts studios, and of course, protecting the universe from evil with his round-house kicks.
