'Chuck' casts Cheryl Ladd as Sarah's mother

Chuck season 5 will be premiering at the end of the month, October 28, on NBC 4 in Queens, and the series has quite an impressive list of guest stars planned for their final 13 episodes. They've now added another one.

According to TVLine, Cheryl Ladd (Charlie's Angels) is going to be playing Sarah's mother in episode 8 in January. There are also some details about what to expect when she shows up, as "mother and daughter share a very complicated past and haven't seen each other in five years."  How will Emma react when she finds out her daughter's married and she missed out on seeing it? Considering they have "a very complicated past," it's no surprise that happened, but what could have caused that rift in their relationship? Will they repair it when Emma shows up in Sarah's life, or will they go their separate ways at the end of it, still estranged?

Cheryl Ladd will also be showing up in the primetime as Ducky's love interest on NCIS sometime in October, and it seems like both these roles are good parts for the actress. She'll be on NCIS first, while her Chuck episode is part of the second half of the show's final season. With the series coming to an end this season, it's only right that Sarah's mother is finally introduced, offering more information about her backstory.
