When most people think of cheesesteaks, they think of Philly, and when most people (read: tourists) want a cheesesteak in Philly, they go to either Pat's or Geno's. This is a common mistake among those wishing to experience the best of what the City of Brotherly Love has to offer, as neither Pat's nor Geno's make anything anywhere near resembling a good cheesesteak, and carry their fame only due to being prime locations for late-night drunken snacking. When intoxicated, even the worst food tastes like heaven.
On the topic of cheesesteaks, there is no better place to get a steak than just outside of the city itself. While the neighborhood of Roxborough is still considered Philadelphia in terms of districting, the Center City locals would certainly disagree. For the sake of argument, let's just say that the best cheesesteak and beer combination anywhere near Philadelphia is at Chubby's Steaks on Henry Avenue.
Right across the street from the famous Dalessandro's (their rival of sorts), Chubby's boasts not only ample seating, but also draft beer and a wide variety of spirits to go along with a delicious hoagie. There's simply nothing quite like a cheesesteak, wiz wit, and a Yuengling Lager, or as the locals call it, simply "Lager."
With a dedicated parking lot, tons of seating, a bevy of drinks, and the most tender, flavorful cheesesteaks in Philadelphia (not to mention the pepper and pickle selections), Chubby's Steaks of Henry Avenue is clearly the city's champion. Check them out on Facebook and Twitter!
