If you are out and about in the Cape Girardeau, Mo. area Saturday, October 12, you may see some superheroes around as PETCO is sponsoring “Superhero Saturday” for animal welfare groups and as part of their adoption partner program. CHS-PAWS in Hayti, Mo will be at the event and plans to bring ten animals.
“Our superheroes are adopters, volunteers, and animal rescue workers,” CHS-PAWS Manager Erma Page said, “PETCO is also a superhero for hosting these adoption events and helping more animals find homes.”
Page says the group will be bringing six kittens and four puppies for adoption. “We will also be dressed up for the event and ready to find these ten animals good loving homes,” Page said, “We are excited about teaming up with other shelters and PETCO to get the word out about the need for good adopters and good homes for unwanted, neglected or abandoned animals.”
The event will run from 11-3 and includes other area shelters and vendors. There is a “superhero pet” contest with a parade and prizes for the best costumed animals.
Adoption fees vary from shelter to shelter, but CHS-PAWS fees are $50 for dogs and $35 for cats. “Our fee includes up to date on shots, wormed, treated for fleas, and a spay/neuter certificate,” Page said, “We are hoping that a lot of people will turn out and consider adopting these great animals.”
“We can’t say enough about our partnership with PETCO in Cape,” Page said, “Normally we are there the first Saturday of every month to adopt, but changed the date this month for this special event.”
