Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge recall of 24,000 vehicles for possible brake failure. The Chrysler Group recalled 24,000 Dodge and Jeep vehicles. The recall reason is a defective part that may cause the brakes in the recalled vehicles to fail.
The recall includes 2010 models of Jeep Grand Cherokee, Chrysler Sebring, and Dodge Avenger, Dodge Nitro, Jeep Commander, Jeep Liberty, and the 2009-2010 Dodge Ram.
The problem was discovered by a Chrysler factory worker, and not a consumer. Chrysler has not reported any accidents relating to the brake problem, but they would like to recall to happen as soon as possible for obvious safety reasons.
According to the NHTSA website, “Chrysler will replace the brake booster input rod retaining clip free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin during January 2010.”
CNN Money reported that a Dodge Ram experienced complete brake loss during a brake test.
For more details, check the NHTSA website, or call NHTSA at 888-327-4236 or Chrysler at 800-853-1403. The recall is nationwide and includes anyone who purchased one of the above mentioned vehicles.
