On June 10, 2014 American Express and Uber threw a fun Garage Party to celebrate their new partnership. After opening remarks by Ed Gilligan, President of American Express and Travis Kalanick, CEO and Co-Founder of Uber about the partnership, dancers performed. DJ Ejack was on the turntables and guests were treated to a special performance from Decadance, an all-female hip hop crew from Brooklyn while enjoying cocktails and light bites.
Soon after, the evening's hot Emmy Rossum took the stage to welcome everyone and introduce Chromeo. She commented that American Express and Uber are two of her favorite services. Emmy looked chic in a Monique Lhuillier dress, Jimmy Choo shoes and clutch and Kwiat jewelry. Erin Fetherston, Gabe Saporta from Cobra Starship, DJ Kiss, Phillip Bloch, Cory Kennedy and Mickey Boardman were a few of the notables we spotted in the crowd.
Chromeo consisting of David Macklovitch and Patrick Gemayel had everyone dancing. David rocked a black and white leather jacket and shades as he strummed on his liquid silver guitar. Patrick was also in black and white. They started their set with "Night By Night," then they sang "Hot Mess," "Tenderoni,"'Bonafied Lovin," and closed the show with "Jealous," which is probably their biggest hit to date.
American Express' new partnership with Uber and a first-of-its-kind technology integration into the Uber iOS app will allow U.S. Card Members enrolled in the Membership Rewards program to choose to earn two times points or use points for Uber rides. "This is the first time that consumers can use loyalty reward points of any kind seamlessly in-app and in real time for on-demand transportation," American Express said in a statement.
