Chrome body paint on BMW M3 E92

This vehicle features a chrome body that is very reflective, sporty, and eye catching. A very modern approach to motorsport appearance, this special type of chrome body for the BMW M3 E92 was done by Dereiter Racing and uses a unique blend of chrome paint. Dereiter Racing is an international automotive performance company with locations in Virginia and Orlando, Florida. Extremely unique paint  with an almost transparent effect is the overal experience of chrome paint. Very unique! I'm not sure if it's legal in the USA though, check with your local county before chroming your vehicle.

How does it work?

According to a local paint professional recently interviewed, the chrome is painted on and covered with clear coat just like any other paint job. However, the process takes much longer because the chrome must be applied at a very thin rate, almost a dusting. Once the chrome has setup, it is ready for a special type of chrome sealant and clear coat. This is applied liberally to the chrome painted surface and allowed to dry. Visit http://www.hardlifestyle.com for more information about this type of chrome paint.

The process of chrome painting is much harder than it looks, the trick is to not get any runs. On various surface types provided by numerous automotive body styles, it takes a skilled painter to apply a chrome paint successfully. Try practicing on small parts such as helmets, trinkets, etc. Once you have mastered the small jobs, then try something larger; eventually moving up to the BMW you see above.
