According to an Aug. 11 report from MMA Weekly, critically-acclaimed actress, Christy Mack, has issued a statement on the domestic violence incident she was involved in last week with her on-again, off-again boyfriend, War Machine. Mack, 23, was involved in a three-person altercation on the morning of Aug. 8, with War Machine and one other individual whose name was not released to the public.
The incident, which happened in Las Vegas, left Mack with non-life threatening injuries, including broken bones in her face, fractured rips and a ruptured liver. By her account, War Machine showed up to her house in Las Vegas, and found her with another man. It was not announced what exactly Mack was doing with the man she was with, but the actress says she was fully clothed when Machine walked in on her at approximately two in the morning on Aug. 8.
She says she broke up with War Machine in May, which means they weren't in a relationship at the time of the altercation. In a statement that Mack tweeted out from her official Twitter page, she said War Machine began to throw punches at the man he walked in on her with, and then turned his attention to her. Mack says War Machine didn't say a word to either of them, before throwing punches.
Mack explained that War Machine beat her so badly that she was unable to walk after the incident, and that her speech was slurred. She says there is a reward of $10k being offered to anyone who can help locate him. War Machine has eluded Las Vegas police for over 72 hours, and he remains at large at the time of this publication. When news broke of the domestic violence altercation, War Machine was released from his promotional contract with Bellator MMA.
War Machine hasn't released his side of the story yet, but he has provided some key clues about what happened that fateful night in Sin City. War Machine says he showed up to Mack's house unannounced, to surprise her with an engagement ring. Apparently, he was planning to propose to her, but found her with another man. Mack's story contradicts Machine's account of the situation, since she says they broke up in May.
Time will tell how the situation plays out, but fortunately Mack is expected to survive and make a full recovery. As for War Machine, he has been fired from Bellator. He could be facing some serious jail time, so he's on the run from police. War Machine, who most recently competed under the Bellator MMA banner, has two UFC fights under his belt. He was a talented MMA fighter, but ruined his fighting career with unfortunate incidents outside the cage.
