Christophobia

The Bible clearly calls homosexuality, along with many other things, a sin, and more than that, an abomination (Lev. 18:22-25, Eph 5:3-5, and 1 Cor. 6:9-11). This is a fact, not an opinion. The Bible is not expressing a hatred for the people caught up in this sin, and, on the contrary, the Bible is concerned for human beings participating in sinful activities, activities that are contrary to God's will. What seems to be missing in contemporary western culture is the understanding that we are all sinners and our natural inclination is to go against God's will. If we go against God's will we will suffer. True believers who follows God's Word can not be homophobes, a term that is commonly used to justify hatred.

It doesn't seem that Duck Dynasty’s” Phil Robertson was doing anything more than expressing a basic Christian tenant. While some are opposed to that tenant, most Christians would not go against what is so clearly stated as God's decree, not Robertson's opinion. What we are seeing is a complete lack of tolerance for Christianity, and a vile reaction to having a position that is contrary to progressive thought. What is probably most disturbing to the LGBT community is that Christians are going to continue to hold that position, that sexual deviance is a sin and an abomination. Any other position would be hateful and uncaring.

An abomination is that which is exceptionally loathsome, sinful, wicked, or vile, but this is what Phil Robertson is accused of. His words were, to some, an abomination. This is calling the kettle black. Christians and most children will continue to be repulsed by sexually deviant behavior, despite the effort to make them unlearn this natural and appropriate reaction. 98% of the population, (the heterosexuals) with the exception of of those who are trying to deny their true feelings to conform to political correctness, will struggle to be tolerant, not to those who practice this deviant behavior, but to the behavior itself, that continues to be blatantly put in front of our face. Tolerance does not condone. We are not required to like it.

Christophobia, on the other hand, is a hate crime and those who practice it are in violation of the constitution, the law, and common decency. Public figures like Piers Morgan, GLAAD, A & E, and other vile bigots, should be careful not to be guilty of inciting hatred of those who would call homosexuality an abomination. If they feel justified in condemning people's strong reaction to what others consider as vile, they would also be justified in condemning the Right to Life Movement, the Environmental Movement, Peta, and any other group with strongly held beliefs. In the meantime, most Americans, and the rest of the world, will continue to be repulsed and offended by displays of homosexuality, as we have a natural and God-given right to. We don't need fixing. Sexual deviants (fornicators, adulterers, homosexuals, pedophiles, etc – yes, they are in the same category) don't have to like our views, they just need to be tolerant to them and to those who have them.
