Christopher Meloni returning to TV in comedy series

Those who mourned the loss of Christopher Meloni from the cast of “Law & Order: SVU” will be happy to hear that he’s being resurrected, but this time in a comedy role. CBSNews reported on March 14 that Meloni has been cast in the pilot of a new Fox sitcom based on the book “I Suck at Girls”. The show hasn’t been named yet, but it’s hard to imagine Chris Meloni ‘sucking at girls’, given his working relationship with onscreen partner Mariska Hargitay, as well as Elliot Stabler’s TV marriage having produced five kids.

Meloni’s portrayal of the tough Marine-turned cop was a natural fit for the ruggedly-handsome actor, but will he be able to shed that image as he makes the switch to comedy? The new role has him cast as Jack Dunlevy, whose wife is accepted at law school, leaving him with the bulk of the responsibility for tending to their two kids. Will his NYC Detective experience be of any help in his new parenting duties? Fans aren’t likely to care, as long as they get a bit of Chris Meloni eye-candy again.
