The San Bernardino Police Department has confirmed reports that two sheriff's deputies have been wounded today Feb. 12, in a shootout with a suspect believed to be renegade ex-Los Angeles police officer Christopher Jordan Dorner. The officers were airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center and Loma Linda University Medical Center.
Dorner is currently barricaded in a cabin, and surrounded by police officers.
Dorner may have been involved in a home invasion and carjacking in the Big Bear area of southern California, the law enforcement sources said.
Police have set up road blocks leading to Big Bear not allowing any traffic to go up to Big Bear and are searching every vehicle coming down . Big Bear High School and two other schools were put on lock down, and the parents were told not to travel to the schools.
Dorner, who indicated he was on a campaign of vigilante justice for what he has called his unfair termination from the LAPD in 2008, has been the subject of a seven-day manhunt as a suspect in three killings.Dorner is accused of killing one police officer and wounding two others, as well as killing the daughter of his police union representative and her fiance.
The standoff with Dorner is ongoing and the situation is actively developing.
