The holiday season is especially festive in Woodstock in the far northwestern suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. The Lighting of the historic Village Square is on he day after Thanksgiving, November 25, 2011. The festivties continue throughout the weekend and throughout December, with events including a parade, Dickens carolers, carriage rides and Christmas Tree Walks at the Woodstock Opera House.
Woodstock: Lighting of the Square begins at 6:30 p.m. with the lighting at 7:00 p.m. The annual event features carriage rides, live entertainment and the warm glow of holiday lights on the beautiful historic square.
The tree lighting starts a weekend of activities, including the Woodstock Opera House Christmas Tree Walk, Dickens carolers on Saturday, carriage rides and more.
The City of Woodstock will host its annual Christmas parade on Sunday, November 28 at 2:00 p.m. Santa will be in attendance for the pageant on the historic square.
The Woodstock Opera House will hosts its annual Christmas Tree Walk on the Square on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The exhibit will also be open Mondays through Saturdays from 9:00AM to 5:00PM and during all performances throughout the Holiday Season. Each year, more than 30 trees are decorated by local groups and artisans.
