A juried art-show that features Christmas-themed originals, Christmas in the Country has been a tradition at the Cedar Creek Settlement for 35 years. Held in the historic home of the Cedar Creek Winery, the event is the perfect way to spend a weekend this holiday season. A short, half-hour drive is all it will take to transport you from the hustle and bustle of the city to the quaint, country town of Cedarburg.

As you explore the historic surroundings of the Cedar Creek Settlement, a small village founded by the Irish and German settlers in the 1840's, you will be transported to a simpler time. The seventy artists featured at the show take pride in their hand-crafted works. Find that perfect, one-of-a-kind gift for a loved one or treat yourself to a unique, original work of art.  Pieces range from jewelry and clothing to paintings and toys, a little something for everyone. Christmas in the Country also offers hand-made candies, gourmet coffees and other treats for sale. For those who spend all their money on artwork, complimentary tea and cookies are available throughout the show.

Save the best for last and take advantage of being at one of Wisconsin's premier wineries, Cedar Creek. Sample the simple classics, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, or ask about the winery's specialty blends like White Christmas and Cedarburg Spice. Whatever wine you choose is sure to warm you up on a cold winter's day. Unfortunately winery tours are not offered during events such as Christmas in the Country, but that leaves you with an good excuse to return.

The festival opens this Friday and runs all weekend. Check the website for the hours of operation. With its combination of good food, great wine and fine art, the Christmas in the Country is sure to give you that warm and cozy feeling we all yearn for during the chilly Wisconsin winters.
