The Lewis Caveland Lodge has been decorated by the Carter County Homemakers Clubs for the enjoyment of families. Homemakers have also decorated Christmas trees which are on display throughout the lodge.
In addition, Tierney’s Cavern Restaurant will host a holiday-themed buffet from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Santa will be on hand for pictures with children while local musicians and dancers entertain diners.

Carter Caves State Resort Park was established in 1946 and, as the name suggests, caves are a big part of the park. Bat Cave is the largest of the caves at the park and is the hibernation location to an estimated 40,000 Indiana bats. Bat Cave is only open to tours in the summer but X Cave and Cascade Cave tours are available year round.
Carter Caves is also home to the Lewis Caveland Lodge. Constructed with native fieldstone, the lodge has 28 rooms, each with a private balcony or patio overlooking the surrounding woodlands. The lodge also has a dining room, Tierney’s Cavern Restaurant, with seating for 100.
Other facilities at the park include cottages, campground, picnic areas, golf course, miniature golf, and a large outdoor pool.
Carter Caves is less than 150 from Metro Louisville via I-64. From exit 161 near Olive Hill, follow the signs to the park. Detailed directions can be found using Google Maps.
