This weekend, The 48th Annual Candlelight Tour will be at the Heritage Society. The event will take place Friday and Saturday from 6:30-9:30p.m. "Share the excitement as costumed re-enactors participate in historical vignettes portraying past holiday celebrations, skilled crafters will demonstrate long forgotten skills and visit the Santa's Workshop to create holiday crafts." Photos with Santa wil be available and along with the photo, you will be able to get a hand-cut silhouette. And to put the cherry on the sundae, you will also be able to experience downtown snowfall. Adults tickets (19+) are $10, Senior tickets (65+) $5, Students/Children tickets (6-18) $5, Kids (5 & under) are FREE. Check out the Heritage Societies website for more information.
At the Health Museum this Saturday, Sponsored by Kelsey-Seybold Clinc, The Teddy Bear Checkup event will start at 9a.m. and go until 3p.m. "Bring your teddy bear, doll or other favorite friend for a 'beary' special checkup. Museum educators and volunteers will help you practice being a 'doctor,' check your bear's heartbeat, teach your bear healthy habits and much more!" And what's a trip to the museum without see SANTA! He will be there to get his yearly checkup before the big day. He will also be available after his checkup for photos. Checkup stations include: Beary Delicious, Bear Basics, Tough Teeth, Teddy Exam Room, Squeaky Clean, Seeing is Believing, and Beary Fit. You will have a chance to win door prizes. All weekend from now until January 31st, Sponsored by Marathon Oil Corporation, The Children's Museum will be hosting Seasons of Sharing. A holiday exhibit including cultural and religious celebrations from around the world. "Learn about seven holidays from around the world, all celebrated right here in the Bayou City! With more than 90 languages spoken throughout the Houston area, our city’s cultural diversity has found a home within this exhibit." Ramadan, Diwali, Las Posadas, Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, and the Lunar New Year will all be shown at the exhibit. Each week will spotlight a different culture. Special Holiday Hours include, Christmas Eve, Dec. 24: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. and New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

This Sunday, December 12th, The 5th Annual H-E-B Feast of Sharing will be at George R. Brown Convention Center downtown. This event includes a delicious free meal and festive entertainment from 1-4p.m. “Feast of Sharing began more than twenty-two years ago in Laredo, and has grown to be a holiday tradition in thirty-one locations throughout Texas and Mexico,” said Winell Herron, group vice president of public affairs and diversity for H-E-B. “Houston’s Feast of Sharing supports H-E-B’s continuous effort to serve our communities and share a spirit of camaraderie during the holiday season.” 10,000 meals will be served at this event including over 2,500 lbs of glazed ham; 310 gallons of mashed potatoes; 180 gallons of vegetable medley; 120 gallons of brown gravy; 700 apple pies; 10,000 dinner rolls; and soft drinks will be served. Live performances include, the Harbour Lights Choir, Red Door Productions Entertainment Company, TUTS Humphreys School of Musical Theatre, and more. And finally this Sunday at 6p.m. A Magical Christmas with The Houston Symphonic Band wil be held at The First Methodist Church Westchase. "Come join the Houston Symphonic Band as we celebrate Christmas with magical holiday music that is sure to warm the hearts of all." Admission to the performance is FREE.
