The holiday season is such a hectic time in St. Louis that sometimes it's nice to slow down and go back to simpler times. One way that you can escape the hustle and bustle is to visit the historic Daniel Boone home in Defiance, Missouri. The 2011 Daniel Boone Home Candlelight Tour takes place December 2nd and 3rd and again on December 9th and 10th and is a magnificent sight to see.
The historic home will be decked out with 19th century holiday decorations while becoming an almost magical place, filled with thousands of candles and lanterns. You'll enjoy music of the 19th century, cookies and wassail (cider) as you learn about the life of Daniel Boone and the last years of his life spent in Missouri.
The Daniel Boone Candlelight Tour will open at 5:30 each evening, with the last tickets sold at 9:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 for children and $15 for adults. For more information, call 636-798-2005.
