The holidays are a wonderful time of year with plenty of activities to keep families and couples busy. However, with all of the activity it may be challenging to spend quality time with your pets. Fortunately, there are a variety of holiday activities that include pets.
Walk through the neighborhood
Take your favorite pup for a walk around the neighborhood to admire the decorations and festivities. Doing, so gives your dog the exercise they need to stay healthy as well as provide stimulation and entertainment. If its cold out, dress your dog in a warm sweater, holiday themed of course!
Have a doggy Christmas party
Invite your friends and their dogs for an animal themed Christmas party. Hosting a Christmas party for dogs allows you to spend time with your friends and your dogs will have friends to play with. The playfulness of the idea may help take the edge off the holiday stresses while providing an excuse to play with your dogs without feeling guilty about ignoring your friends. Hosting a group of dogs provides a wonderful opportunity to socialize the dogs and work on positive reinforcement techniques around other dogs. Planning fun activities such as games at the party can provide some much needed exercise for both pets and owners. However, it is important to invite dogs that are well socialized and behaved.
Photo with Santa Paws
Taking a Christmas photo with your pets is a wonderful way to remember the holidays with your treasured pets as well as create a unique holiday greeting card. Many of the larger pet supply photos offer a photo op with your pet and Santa and some donate the proceeds to a pet charity! The Grove hosts a pet night every Tuesday where Santa will be available to take pictures with your pet.
Dress your pet up
Any excuse to dress your pet up is a good excuse. Although your pet may not agree, a Santa Suit or elf costume is sure to bring festivity to the season. The costume can also keep your pet warm during the cold days. If you have particularly great pet Christmas costume – please share!
