Christmas is the celebration of life and a reminder that our essential nature is peace, happiness, love, giving and joy. It is an event to be celebrated at every moment in life for a year even though celebrated outside once a year. That is what yoga declares as the goal of life. A Sufi proverb says, ‘if you have, share and celebrate and if you don’t have, meditate and enjoy’. How true it is in life when we are subjected to hardship and conflicts in our day to day life. Here are the 5 ways, you can celebrate Christmas, to make your entire life a celebration.
1st way- awaken to peace and happiness
Yoga is all about awakening. It is neither a religion nor a physical practice but a discovery of our real-self within. Sit with eyes closed in front of an image of Christ and move the mind consciously on the image from top to the toes repeatedly for 15 minutes. Resolve to do the practice without any religious consideration, you will discover peace and calm within.
The 2nd way – take charge of inner purification
Cleanliness, hygiene and purity points to different levels of the life. Yoga declares that purity of the mind is the highest of all. Bring purity of mind by dropping the negative thoughts every day. Yoga says it can be done by sitting even for 5 minutes, rewinding the 24 hours activities. Resolve to drop what are undesirable and accept what are good and harmonious.
3rd way – forgive all those who sin……….
We remember the famous phrase of the prayer, ‘forgive those who sin……………….’ Why not make this phrase a part of daily habits to drop and dissolve the differences. Yoga always inspires one to forgive oneself and others. It can only be done through contemplation not in words by sitting daily for a few minutes.
4th way – food for one and all
Offering food habitually does good to others but not for oneself, if not offered consciously. Yoga says, one should divide one’s belly into four parts – fill two parts with food, leave one part for air and fourth is kept empty for easy digestion and absorption. The secret behind eating only two parts lies in keeping oneself healthy and preventing many illnesses caused due to overeating. However, the best thing is offering the food consciously to relations, needy as if coming from Jesus.
5th way – wait for Santa Claus within to change
Santa clause is a myth or reality may be a valid question for many but awakening to peace and happiness is not. He is a symbol of happiness and prosperity. Why not celebrate this Christmas coloring the mind with Santa Claus deep within. This will help the mind to remove all frustrations, conflicts and tensions that are preventing one to move ahead in life.
Happy Christmas to all
