Another disturbance moving across southern Canada will drag a cold front across the Great Lakes Wednesday night into Thursday morning. The Grand Rapids National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for West Michigan until 10 AM Thursday.
Ahead of the cold front we’ll see light snow showers during the day. A breeze from the southwest, off Lake Michigan, will enhance the snowfall near the lakeshore. The higher amounts will generally be from Muskegon to Ludington.
The cold front will slide across the area this evening turning the wind to a more westerly direction and producing several hours of heavier snowfall across the entire region.
The snowfall should diminish to just a few showers by Thursday morning.
Total snowfall accumulations for this event should range from 2 to 5 inches with the highest amounts on the northern lakeshore.
The wind will become a bit breezy on Wednesday afternoon. Normally this would not be much of a problem but with the accumulated ice on trees and power lines additional isolated power outages are possible.
