Christmas in El Paso is a vivid, joyous time of year. Hopefully by now you’ll have taken advantage of the last weekend to shop before Christmas and have complete most if not all of your holiday shopping. For those of you with that extra time available now, and especially now that the kids are out of school for the holidays, check out these neat events you can still participate in before the big day.
Winter Wonderland light display at Ascarate Park
Starting November 21, 2009, Ascarate Park will be home to the Winter Wonderland holiday lights display. Park visitors can take an evening drive through the park and view stand-up holiday light displays that feature characters like Santa and his reindeer to simple holiday greetings. Monday through Thursday park entrance is free, Saturday and Sunday park entrance is $1.
The Abundant Living Faith Center presents a "Christmas Celebration" at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on December 24, 2009 at 1000 Valley Crest. Its a musical drama that showcases music, candlelight, and comedy. Nursery and children's classes provided. Free to attend.
Pictures with Santa
Various locations around town are offering the chance for your kids to have their picture taken with Santa Claus. Join them in keeping the tradition of sitting on Santa’s lap before Christmas alive. Don’t forget to bring your own camera, just in case.
Celebrate the spirit of Kwanzaa this year in El Paso. Events take place at 7 p.m. each night from Dec. 26-Jan. 1 at the McCall Neighborhood Center. The center is located at 3231 E. Wyoming.
