Christine Sinclair celebrated her 200th international match in style yesterday as she scored her 147th career goal in a 2-0 win over Scotland.
Sinclair hit the milestone at the 2013 Torneio Internacional in Brasilia, Brazil. She is the first Canadian to reach the total of playing in 200 games for the country.
Canada, Scotland, Chile and host Brazil are the four teams competing in this year’s Torneio Internacional.
It is Canada’s second appearance in the tournament, having won the 2010 edition thanks to a spectacular goal by Sinclair that made sports-highlight broadcasts around the world.
Sinclair had to wait until the second half to get her goal after she was sent in alone on goal along the left side before coolly putting away her chance.
She is Canada’s all-time leader in appearances, goals and assists. With Sinclair in the lineup, Canada’s record is 103 wins, 29 draws and 68 losses.
Adriana Leon got Canada off on the right foot within the first 10 minutes when she snapped home a volley shot.
