Christina Applegate to star in NBC comedy pilot from Lorne Michaels

Christina Applegate has been cast as a working mother in a NBC single camera comedy pilot from "SNL" producer Lorne Michaels and writer Emily Spivey ("Parks and Recreation"), EW reported on Friday, March 18.

The untitled project, in contention for the 2011-2012 season, will follow the Emmy-winning actress as a snarky career woman raising her kids with her stay-at-home-dad husband while dealing with her opinionated parents.

Applegate has proven to be one of the most-in-demand actresses this pilot season, recently passing on ABC's "Good Christian Bitches" from "Sex and the City" creator Darren Star

The new mom is best known for her TV starring roles in "Samantha Who?," "Jesse" and Fox's Chicago-based sitcom "Married...With Children." She picked up an Emmy for her guest role as Rachel's sister on "Friends." The actress gave birth to daughter Sadie on January 27.
