Christie's office: MSNBC a partisan network for revealing info about bridgegate

Following the now infamous "Bridgegate" scandal, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and his office have been dealing with a media onslaught. While many networks have been critical of Christie, MSNBC has led the charge and have given voters a front row seat to the newest political sideshow.

After the Bridgegate scandal blew up in the face of Gov. Chris Christie, MSNBC hosts were out in front of every other network and began to pull back the curtain on Team Christie. Appearing on MSNBC on Saturday, Hoboken, N.J. Mayor Dawn Zimmer spoke with MSNBC host Steve Kornacki and claimed that Gov. Christie held Hurricane Sandy relief funds hostage from her city unless she approved a new development plan that heavily favored one specific property holder. Zimmer declined, stating "I cannot give a windfall to one property owner because the governor and other people want me to do it."

Chris Christie's office responded to the allegations and labled the claims "outlandishly false." In a statement obtained by the Business Insider, Colin Reed, a spokesman for Christie, lashed out against MSNBC as a "partisan network."

"MSNBC is a partisan network that has been openly hostile to Governor Christie and almost gleeful in their efforts attacking him, even taking the unprecedented step of producing and airing a nearly three-minute attack ad against him this week. Governor Christie and his entire administration have been helping Hoboken get the help they need after Sandy, with the city already having been approved for nearly $70 million dollars in federal aid and is targeted to get even more when the Obama Administration approves the next rounds of funding. The Governor and Mayor Zimmer have had a productive relationship, with Mayor Zimmer even recently saying she’s ‘very glad’ he’s been our Governor. It’s very clear partisan politics are at play here as Democratic mayors with a political axe to grind come out of the woodwork and try to get their faces on television."

Chris Christie continues to get into hot water and if things don't change soon, his aspirations for a presidential run in 2016 could disappear quickly.
