Christie Clark wants BOTH Austins back on 'Days of our Lives'

Christie Clark may owe her return to Days of our Lives to Twitter. Well, to co-star Alison Sweeney, too, but mostly to Twitter. When she was visiting her Salem family last year to pay respects to Frances Reid and Alice Horton, who had passed away, she, Sweeney, and Patrick Muldoon ended up having lunch together on the lot. Sweeney Tweeted about it, and it set long-time fans into a frenzy. Could it be a spoiler that Austin Reed would soon be returning to Salem? Well, low and behold, that's inevitably, unexpectedly, what happened.

Check out our chat with Muldoon here.

So when we sat down with Clark on the Burbank CA set of DOOL, we wanted to know if there was anyone else she'd like to see back on the show. Because thanks to the power of social media these days, maybe we could make it happen!

"It might be interesting to bring Austin Peck back to play a different character. I know they've done that with different people in the past. Throw that out there!" Clark smiled.

Well, you know we will! Peck was "our" Austin, and since his current soap opera, One Life To Live, is coming to an end, we'd love to see him back in our city once again. Though we have to admit it may cause an emotional dilemma with who we'd want Carrie to be with: Muldoon's Austin or Peck's whomever...

Carrie and Austin will arrive back in Salem this September for the dedication of the Horton Square as a happily married couple, but town-- and the people in it-- have a tendency to tear apart even the most solid of relationships. Clark shared that there are some "new things" getting in the middle of Carrie and Austin's love this time around, and hey, one of those new things could always end up being a new character, right?

Or maybe just a new side to an old favorite.

"Back [when we first met Austin] he was the artist, the boxer, a bit like Brando: young, animalistic, Romeo, and [Patrick]'s bringing that back, because that's who he is," Clark divulged. "That deep, dark seed is there, which is interesting to watch."

You can hear Clark talk more about her return to Salem in our video chat to the left.

Days of our Lives airs on NBC every weekday at 1pm. Welcome Clark back to your screens in September, but welcome her on Twitter right now!
