Supermodel Christie Brinkley is 61, but looks decades younger, thanks to regular exercise and her longtime vegan diet.

"I like to do things and have fun," Brinkley told Us Weekly. "I really do use the Total Gym. That's not just advertising."

Christie, who follows a vegan diet, became a vegetarian at age 12 and praises its weight loss and anti-aging beauty benefits.

The anti-aging health and weight loss effects of a vegan diet are no surprise to Dr. David Katz, director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center.

“A diet of minimally processed foods close to nature — predominantly plants — is decisively associated with health promotion and disease prevention,” said Dr. Katz, author of Disease-Proof.

Dr. Neal Barnard agrees. “Studies suggest that free radicals [toxic molecules that form in the body] contribute to aging,” said Barnard, author of 21-Day Weight Loss Kickstart. “A vegan diet, rich in fruits and vegetables, is full of antioxidants which help protect the body from damage by free radicals.”

Brinkley skis, dances and rides her bike. The fit mom of three also does yoga, strength-trains and walks a lot. Christie tries to sneak in calisthenic exercises as soon as she wakes up in the morning.

"I try to get in 100 push-ups every day," said Brinkley. "It's really easy. I keep a rolled up yoga mat under my bed. I'll do 30 push-ups before I get in the shower. Then I do another 20 before I dry my hair, and now I've done 50. After I dry my hair, I'll come back and I'll do more."

Yoga is anti-aging and promotes natural weight loss by reducing stress, sculpting lean muscles and suppressing appetite, according to Jennifer Aniston’s yoga teacher, Mandy Ingber, author of the bestselling book, Yogalosophy.
