Rhode Island librarians are changing their historic images by getting tattoos; according to an NBC News article dated October 15. The pictures of the librarians with their tattoos exposed will be compiled in a 2014 calendar and used as a fundraiser.
The article goes on to say that the tattoos will show young people that librarians can be cool.
The educational profession has had its share of negative publicity in the recent past.
A Cheshire math teacher was jailed for offering his female students $300 dollars to pose topless; according to Mail Online. The teacher also shared an intimate kiss with a student while he fondled her leg.
While some understood the desire for librarians to remake themselves; others viewed it as another example of a noble profession changing for the worse.
One person familiar with the story stated the following:
“I understand the desire to attract young people to the profession; but where do you draw the line? It seems like the librarians traded their stereotype for one far more discouraging. They have become just another organization willing to do anything for publicity. The Holy Bible speaks to the profession of teaching, and how they will be judged more harshly. I doubt the tattoos will be viewed in a good light.”
Is it okay for Christians to have and display tattoos?
