According a September 16 article in NBC News; the fifth edition of the popular video game “Grand Theft Auto” has been released to the buying public. It is the first release of the popular game since Grand Theft Auto version IV was released in 2008. The article goes on to say that the game is expected to sell nearly 20 million copies in 6 months.
Grand Theft Auto came on the scene in 1997; according to Wikipedia. Now, there are 15 different versions or iterations of the game. The game has grown in popularity during that period; but has also been named in a number of lawsuits. In February 2005, the makers and distributors of the game were named in a suit in connection with the shooting death of 3 Alabama policemen. The lawsuit was later dismissed.
Critics of GTA believe that it should be banned for all ages.
Said one Christian:
“The Bible says that we are a product of what’s in our heart. If we load our minds with bad actions and thoughts; then eventually we desensitize ourselves to the impact of them. One need look no further than the local newspaper to see a number of hearts that are overflowing with bad. The game robs our children of childhood, and brings them face to face with situations and things far beyond their age.”
The Bible also calls on believers to shun the appearance of evil, and to make sure there is a distinction between believers and non-believers.
The Gaming Press calls GTA-V one of the best games ever made.
