This past weekend several congregations throughout the city of DeSoto gathered together to provide their members and the community an opportunity to enjoy Halloween without feeling guilty. This is the 5th year for Sock it to Satan Night Carnival and Music Fest, a free community-wide concert and carnival featuring amazing Christian artists from around the country. Families enjoyed the six hours of great music, a health and wellness pavilion, games, a digital sound stage hosted by Stellar Award winning nationally syndicated radio host Frankie Wilson, a trunk or treat, vendors and more! The musical lineup, featured on two stages, included Turning Point Christian Academy Dance I-III, Mayor Carl Sherman and DeSoto High School, gospel recording artists Andrea Helms, Brennan John, Bishop Ridge, Sean C. Johnson and Newworldson as well as Demetrius McClendon, Shy Speaks, Ordered Steps Productions, DaBear, winner of I'm Up Next Talent Competition and several other performances.
Kids were able to dress in costumes to win prizes and there were giveaways for those who signed up. The event went from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and featured vendors ranging from food to games.
"I thank God that I was able to be a part of such a great event and host on the Digital Sound Stage," says Wilson. "It is always a pleasure to fellowship and worship with God's people. Sock it to Satan is a great night for the entire family."
This year's event was sponsored by LifeCare Prosthetics & Orthotics. It was a great event for the family to be entertained spiritually while still enjoying the costume displays in a safe environment. This is an event that should definitely be duplicated by other ministries throughout the world.
