There are many prophecies in the Bible which describe the deterioration of the social, moral, and spiritual conditions on earth in the last years before Jesus returns to earth.
In 2 Timothy 3:1-4 (NASB) the Apostle Paul prophesies that: “In the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money . . . haters of good, treacherous, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.”
Paul also prophesies a great deterioration in the religious values and practices of some people by declaring that: “For the time will come when they will no longer endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate teachers in accordance with their own desires; and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.” (2 Timothy 3:3-4)
Paul further prophesies about spiritual deception in 2 Thessalonians 2:3-11 by declaring that a man of lawlessness will arise and will get his spiritual power from the Devil to produce great signs and wonders so he can deceive those people who will not receive God’s truths and become saved.
Even though that man of lawlessness has not yet been revealed, the demonic spirit and mystery of lawlessness is already at work in our modern world (2 Thessalonians 2:7) and has been very busy deceiving people into committing great actions of lawlessness in rebellion against both the laws of God and the laws of Western civilization which had their beginning in God’s principles of living and leadership found in the Bible.
The more that demonic forces deceive people into destroying God’s principles of living as the basis for morality in different parts of the country, the more that the moral fabric of the culture of those areas will be crumbling into the lawlessness of people doing what feels good to them, regardless of the consequences to them or other people.
The result of those things happening is that it will fulfill the scariest prophecy of Jesus: “Because lawlessness is increased, most peoples love will grow cold.” (Matthew 24:12)
As these prophecies become fulfilled they will create a great deterioration in the social, moral, and spiritual conditions in some areas of the country and will create many kinds of storms that Christians will have to go through as they go through their daily activities.
The first kind of storm is the lawless actions of many kinds that can suddenly happen around them for many kinds of reasons.
The second kind of storm is seeing many kinds of corruption in the financial, political, and social worlds as good people get coerced into doing things that go against their Christian principles.
The third kind of storm that plagues Christians is the blizzard of ungodly fleshly temptations, corrupt values, and demonic deceptions that the entertainment and advertising industries are throwing at them through their many media outlets.
That storm can happen while Christians are traveling in their car, looking through magazines, or looking through the television channels trying to find some good program to watch.
As Christians are going through those storms they maybe wondering how they can keep them and the deteriorating moral and spiritual conditions around them from contaminating their spiritual and moral lives?
The biggest way for Christians to fight off the effects of those storms is to follow the teachings of Jesus in Matthew 7:24-25 in having a strong personal and spiritual house that is securely anchored to the bedrock of having Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, basing their beliefs and actions on a strong working knowledge of Jesus’ teachings and God’s principles of living found in the Bible, and then using the power of the Holy Spirit to be able to live according to those principles.
Another part of having a strong personal house is for Christians to have a strong personal self-image that is based on the belief that they were created by God in love, redeemed by God in love, and are sustained by God in love. As Christians see themselves as God’s loved creations, then they can have a close relationship with God as they daily talk to God in prayer to tell Him their problems and renew their spiritual strength.
Christians also need to rely on the insight of the Holy Spirit to warn them of a possible demonic deception or spiritual attack by the Devil’s spiritual forces of darkness. When those things occur, then Christians need to know how to use their spiritual weapons described in Ephesians 6:10-18 to fight spiritual battles. Christians also need to use the name of Jesus Christ to bind the attacking spiritual forces of darkness and through the power of the Holy Spirit cast those spiritual forces into the abyss/lake of fire to stay there forever.
In these last years before Jesus returns to earth, there will be an increasing amount of storms caused by the increasing amount of the spiritual warfare between the spiritual forces of God and His spiritual kingdom of spiritual light and the spiritual forces of the Devil and his spiritual kingdom of spiritual darkness. Since these battles will affect everyone, they need to learn how to fight them so they won’t be a causality of them.
The more that Christians use their spiritual weapons, the power of God, and their strong personal house to fight the coming storms and battles; then the more Christians will become a great shining beacon in our modern world that has many kinds of spiritual, moral, and intellectual darkness in it!
