Christian Slater is engaged to Brittany Lopez. The pair met three years ago in Miami, and at first, says Slater, 43, he mistook her for a lesbian. “This girl came walking along with another lady, a slightly older lady," the “Batman” actor told Jimmy Fallon and Us magazine reports on Thursday, Feb. 28. He noticed her while he was eating breakfast, at Little Palm Island resort.
"I was sitting in my usual spot, eating my oatmeal...and this spot was famous for people proposing to each other. It was very, very nice. So she's there, and the next thing I know, she gets down on one knee and proposes to this older lady..."
It just goes to show you can’t always take a scene at face value. Anyone might look at a bended knee and think proposal – especially at a known romantic location – but anyone could be wrong.
“I thought I had just witnessed a nice lesbian engagement,” admitted Christian Slater, who is now engaged to the girl, himself. “I was coming over to say congratulations,” – a nice gesture – “but it turns out it was her aunt, and she was just trying to help her aunt capture the beauty and the romance of the moment.” Slater said.
Suddenly, new worlds of interest opened. "She was making a joke, and I witnessed it, and it intrigued me, and the next thing I knew, we were hanging out in the Everglades."
