Christian Slater and Justin Long find an 'Undiscovered Gyrl'

Down on his luck actor Christian Slater (“True Romance”) and Justin Long (“10 Years”) have both signed on to the indie drama “Undiscovered Gyrl.”

According to Collider yesterday, Allison Burnett, author of the novel being adapted with the same name, will be directing the film as well.

The film will co-star Martin Sheen (“The Way”), Robert Patrick (“Gangster Squad”), and Britt Robertson (“Dan in Real Life”).

The film will follow Robertson as a teen who holds off on college for a year in order to find herself. Left with daddy issues due to her alcoholic father (Patrick), she engages in sexual relationships with “a young film professor (Long), the father of a baby for whom she nannies (Slater), and a rare book dealer with a dark past (Sheen). She voyeuristically chronicles her adventures in a blog, but her life spirals out of control when pieces of the past begin to emerge.

This actually sounds like it could be an incredible film (especially since Sheen has been on a role lately with his indie work), and I hope it turns out great.

Unfortunately Burnett is a new director, and even though she has great insight as to what makes the story work she might not be the best person to bring it to life.
