Christian recovery

Have you thought about what it really took to stand strong through the storms of addictions? Have you met anyone who tried their very best to stay clean, but always seem to fall apart?

Well I must say that is the strongest part of being in recovery, dealing with your future, working on the past, and building the present. In many ways, recovery is most dealing with the body, and trying to straighten out the mind, but we tend to forget that it is the soul that needs to be clean, revived and re-established in order to keep yourself in perfect order. This is one of the method that Christian Counseling has brought forth to treatment of recovery.

Many people may look at individuals who are in recovery as a unreasonable person, no good, and sometimes very helpless. I have heard the statements that they will never change, they like doing wrong or what good is he or she is now? In many ways you have individuals who just don't care if the person become clean or not, as long as it not affect them in any form or fashion. But it has become a major problem in the lives of many, you can't over look the issue anymore.

It is not just a black thing it is not a world-wide issue of substance abuse in every community around the world.

You have many treatment centers popping up everywhere, and  sometimes in many ways I have label them "In and Out care" because they really don't try to help the person change, they deal with the pain of the addiction, the try to be creative to help a person stop using, and even at times they work only upon the body and leave the mind alone, or they work on the mind and allow the body to go in and out of withdraws. Each method that each clinic use's have it foundation that works, and I must admit, it has proven fact that certain things work for certain people.

But I have also come to realize that those same method don't seem to last to long, for within trouble times, those same individuals tend to run right back to drugs in order to clear their minds or to feel as if they can run from the problem.
Well you may ask, then how can we solve this problem? What can we do to help someone reframe from running back to drugs or using drugs? Honestly you can't do anything but be there for that person, or pray for that person, for it will take that individual to know the truth about what they are doing themselves.

But then again, one method that have been working for along period of time now, and it has been working into the recovery treatment that even doctors are now given advice to their patients on building and maintaining a personal relationship  with a "Higher Power".

Yes a higher power, NA support groups use this term, so does AA and CA, but there is a now a group in Peoria, IL who has been moving in a direction that does not frame from the issue of God, and will surely share with each  person that its by God's will that they can remove themselves from the life of addictions. They don't just work on drug addiction, but they do their best to help as many people as possible on different addictions from drugs to gambling, even on anger management.

The program "2nd Chance Recovery Group" is the foundation and program of Christian Counseling and the Methadone advocacy project. They are also a program develop and maintain by NLCOM, and is also a affilated of the AFIRM foundation. AFIRM is a foundation that is well prepared to help each individual that has a problem with addiction, and has been around since the year of 1999. The president of this foundation is Dr.Fred Christie.

He is a person of understanding, creativity, spiritual encouragement and the strength & desire to help and continues to strive to better the program so that no one is left out. In developing a solid relationship with Dr. Christies, 2nd Chance Recovery Group became a support group and a advocacy program for  those who are fighting addiction and need help in maintaining a positive life. But what makes this group truly different, is that they strive to use their life stories as a means of mentoring, and testimonies, grant those who attend the group and programs will feel comfortable and safe knowing that they are around those who understands.

They proud themselves on the issues of building relationship with their members and  helping their members build family style relationship with their love ones, understanding that the problem is more then just the addiction, but something that cause this problem deep within. As I spoke with the Director of the program Dr. Smith, he clearly see that even as he was once in the same situation, he knew that God was the answer, it was a friend whom help him see that spirituality and recovery must go hand and hand in order for a person to come from under this obstacle. In knowing this to be true, Dr. Smith build the 2nd Chance Recovery Group on the motto that "You must change not only the body, but allow God to change your soul, so you may understand how to change your mind"..

He allowed this method to be a firm statement in order to begin working with as many individuals as possible, never calling them clients or patients but individuals in recovery. He has clearly stated he do not like using the statement as being a recovery addicted, but use the very term of "Am a person who is in recovery".

When you think about Christian Recovery method, one must understand that Christian drug counseling centers provide treatment program based on Christian principles to alcohol and drug addict people. Christian counseling center turns the life of alcohol and drug addict people over to god. They provide their religious approach to their patient that is based on the principle of Bible and belongs to Jesus Christ.

There are few treatment centers available for treatment of drug and alcohol addict people based on Christian approach. They offer them range of various programs which are spiritually & medically proven. They provide their patients a beautiful, serene atmosphere for their recovery. They apply Christian principles and faith based drug rehabilitation program to help the patients to overcome with the destructive power of alcohol and drug addiction.

Even as Christian counseling become more aware of the process of addictions and continue to help as many people as possible, they are now building a solid bases program and support groups for those who are now on the Methadone Treatment Program, now truly that will be another issue coming soon on this program.

But asking Dr. Smith and Dr. Christies about this, I can say that they both truly believe that methadone has become a very effective way to help as many people who are fighting addictions of opitates. Now many people may not agree with this, especially those who are now members and moderators of the NA, CA and AA support groups. "Dr. Smith express that even as many people may disagree, but yet do not understand the conditions or the treatment because of the fear and lack of knowledge about the program, they will one day realize that God allow each man and woman to be wise and creative enough to become doctors, and be blessed to help those who are sick.

This is one avenue I truly stress on that medication and spirituality should and will work together. For it is by God grace that we step up and begin to help those who truly need help. Now am not saying that I believe a person should live totally on methadone, but I am saying if they can not handle the body pain while traveling the road of recovery, especially if anyone understand the addiction of optiates, then they know how hard it is. Methadone is one way of handling the body pain, but it is God way of taken care of the mind and soul. And in the end that person will totally depend on God ways, and not man...."

Do I agree with this? I am saying I don't agree, but I am saying that any form of help that will uplift a person from being addicted to drugs I am willing to step up and support that person, and if I can keep him from drugs I am willing to pray with him, go to church with him and even sit and just talk with him. These are the things that we need to do in order to  help those who are addicted and whom we truly proclaim to love.

Now if you would like to know more about the 2nd Chance Recovery Group program and support group, you can always email  info@2ndchancerg.org, and let them know you are interested in this  program.

2nd Chance Recovery Group are located in Maryland, ILL, and even in Georgia, I must say that they are well prepared to speak with individuals over the phone as well as in person, especially those in the surrounding area. Keep it real and be blessed!
