The early bird deadline for the Rocky Mountain Christian Filmmakers Camp 2013 is set for January 15, 2013. Interested applicants have until this date to sign up at a reduced rate for this opportunity to learn filmmaking techniques, and also participate in three weeks of working in the Montrose area with a professional cast and crew filming the web production In His Steps: The Series. The early bird price, which includes access to five different video training modules, the three-week film shoot, and a special post-production module is $649. Afterwards, the price increases to $799, which does not include the sixth post-production module. Another payment option is to reserve a spot now for $149 and pay the $500 balance by January 31. Registration is limited to the first 10 paid applicants and closes March 15.
For years the Filmmakers Camp has hosted students of all ages and from all across the country at the Norwood Christian Ranch in Norwood, Colorado. Students attended classes for several days and then put what they had learned into practice by filming a short movie during the rest of the week. In 2013, students will watch five different video modules covering the following topics:
- the camera, tripod, etc
- cinematography and lighting
- sound
- pre-production, including budgeting, fundraising, finding cast and crew
- production, including directing and filming.
The first video module will become available January 21 and the others will be posted every few weeks thereafter. After viewing the training modules, students will come to Montrose for the filming session, which will run from May 20 - June 8. The registration fee includes all meals and lodging during the three-week film shoot.
