Scott Cooper’s Out of the Furance will be adding some pretty big names to the cast. A recent press release revealed that Christian Bale, Casey Affleck, Zoe Saldana, and Sam Shepard will star in a film that centers on Russell Baze (Bale), who is released after serving four years in prison only to find that his younger brother, Rodney Baze Jr. (Affleck) has been brutally murdered. He sets out to avenge the death and track down the killer. Saldana will play Russell’s love interest, Lena Warren.
Bale, Affleck, and Saldana all were circling Out of the Furnace, but this is the first time we are hearing of Shepard’s name being on the cast. The press release doesn’t mention of the previously reported Billy Bob Thornton and Forest Whitaker, IF they end up signing on, it can only make the cast stronger.
