Holy bundle of joy! Batman is a dad!
Christian Bale and his wife Sibi have just welcomed a son, Bale's representative told US Weekly; it is the second child for the couple, who married in 2000, and are already the parents of a nine-year-old daughter.
Bale, 40, was the fourth actor to play Batman, who was reborn on the big screen in the summer of 2005 with Batman Begins, the first of a trilogy from Jonathan and Christopher Nolan, where Gotham City billionaire Bruce Wayne sought the means to fight injustice to avenge and honor the death of his parents Thomas and Martha.
As Batman, he rises as the symbol against criminal and corrupt forces such as Ra's al Ghul and the League of Shadows, Jonathan Crane/the Scarecrow, the Joker, and Bane.
From Michael Keaton's brooding Caped Crusader to Val Kilmer's brooding, comical Caped Crusader, and George Clooney's campy, comical Caped Crusader due to the directions of Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher, Batman returned to his brooding roots as 'The Dark Knight' thanks to Bale and the Nolans, who continued the Batman pathos in the CBS cyber-thriller Person of Interest, where billionaire software genius Harold Finch enlists ex-spy John Reese to protect the people of New York and prevent violent crimes ('irrelevant' by the U.S. government) before they happen.
One-time Marvel 'Daredevil' Ben Affleck succeeds Bale as Batman, as the Oscar winner is shooting Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice in Detroit, with Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel; the film is set for release on March 25, 2016
