According to an August 17 article in the Daily Mail; former New York Yankees baseball player Chad Curtis is facing up to 15 years in prison after being convicted of sexual assault. Curtis was a volunteer coach at a high school at the time he sexually assaulted 3 girls. The article goes on to say that Curtis, a devout Christian, played for 6 teams during his 10 year Major League career.
The news of Curtis’ conviction comes at a time when the Yankees are dealing negativity surrounding Alex Rodriguez and the PED scandal. As it stands, Curtis joins a growing list of athletes convicted of sexual assault; according to Ranker.com.
Does Curtis’ conviction impact how people view Christians? According to one Christian educator; not at all!
“Curtis did not get the job because he is Christian. He got it because he was a celebrated athlete. The Holy Bible says that not everyone who says Lord goes to heaven. The greater crime is that some parents still give some people unfettered access to their children. Success does not mean sinless. It does not matter your station in life; you or I could still sin.”
Sentencing for Curtis will be held on September 26.
