Every young lady on her way to prom wants to be the fairy tale princess. Churches all over the Cincinnati area have been helping that happen with Cinderella’s Closet. Cinderella’s Closet takes formal wear and accessories and makes them available to young ladies in need of quality attire and accessories for prom. The young ladies helped by Cinderella’s Closet would not otherwise be able to acquire their royal outfit for prom. The volunteers who help the efforts of Cinderella’s Closet give their possessions, time, energy, love, and even money to care for young ladies.
Proverbs 29:7 teaches Christians that “The righteous care about justice for the poor.” Throughout Scripture, God is clear that his people are to care for those in need. When Jesus entered his public ministry he said, “‘The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim release to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed’” (Luke 4:18).
Cincinnati Christians are called to live out the Great Commandment – to love God and love others. Those who volunteered resources, time, love, and money to Cinderella’s Closet have demonstrated the Great Commandment in the greater Cincinnati area. Cincinnati Christians should make the most of their opportunities to help others and live out the Great Commandment. Part of loving God is loving others and helping care for those who have been disadvantaged in some way. From cover to cover in the Bible, God commands and urges his people to be generous with their resources and share with those who have needs. Cincinnati Christians ought to be the highest example of what loving one’s neighbor looks like.
