On January 2nd, Chris Jericho made his long awaited return to the WWE. After being gone for nearly 15 months, the WWE fans loudly welcomed him back. However, since his return, fans have become increasingly frustrated with his storyline and lack of talking. Jericho has only said a few words in his 1 month of being back on WWE TV. On Sunday February 5th, Jericho responded to those fans that have become openly critical of him by making the following comments via his Twitter page:
"Funny how some of u never stop complaining and think u know it all. Just sit back and enjoy the ride...you'll have a lot more fun!"
This is the second time within the last few weeks that Jericho has told the fans to calm down and put them in their place in regards to their perceived intelligence. However, it only serves to frustrate fans even more.
For the first few episodes of RAW that Jericho appeared on, he didn't say anything. Instead, he just came out to the ring, soaked up the cheers and left. Then on the January 23rd episode of RAW, he told fans that the world would end as we know it at Royal Rumble. Jericho went on to finis runner up as he was eliminated by Sheamus at the end of the battle royal.
Jericho was heavily rumored to win the Rumble and it was a pleasant surprise when they decided to have Sheamus win it. The next day, Jericho Tweet that he had something to say on RAW that night. However, he just showed up and attacked CM Punk during his tremendous match against Daniel Bryan on RAW. This infuriated fans even more. It's now to the point where the WWE Universe is hating Jericho, which has been the WWE's plan all along. Unlike returns in the past, where wrestlers would embrace the cheers and cut their promos, Jericho has masterfully used it to turn him heel without saying much.
It has become a unique situation where the returning hero has quickly become a top villain all because he didn't give the fans what they wanted. I smell a huge rant about the WWE fans coming in the very near future by Jericho. The fans should just sit back and watch how this unfolds. Jericho's return and Rumble loss have already surprised the masses and gone against the majority's way of thinking. Perhaps there will be more excitement and intrigue along the way.
