Chris Robinson returns to 'General Hospital' as Rick Webber

While characters are returning from the deal on 'General Hospital', head writer Ron Carlivati figures why not the character of Rick Webber. As reported by Michael Logan of TV Guide on Monday, actor Chris Anderson has been added to the list of GH greats returning to the for its 5oth anniversary.

The news is surprising since the character was basically rewritten in 2002 when Robinson last appeared on GH. Robinson is definitely surprised by being brought back to the long time show.

"I could never have predicted I'd be rejoining the group but I guess anything is possible on a soap, even when you've been dead 10 years!"

Certainly anything has been possible on 'General Hospital' over its 50 year tenure and that is what makes the show so special to fans and also to Carlivati who is not only a writer, but also a fan of the show and very familiar with the history of the who. Carlivati says part of the reason for bringing back Robinson is to do a little damage control for how Rick Webber was written during his last stint which resulted in him being murdered by onscreen daughter Laura Spencer played by Genie Francis.

"I grew up loving Rick and Monica - to me, as a young fan, they were what GH was all about - and I really wanted to find a way to bring Rick back despite his death. "I also couldn't imagine Rick would do some of the horrible things he did in his last appearance. That wasn't the Rick Webber I remember!"

Neither was it the Rick Webber long time viewers remembered. The Rick Webber they remembered was the hot doctor who rocked the '70s and '80s as part of the Rick-Monica-Alan-Lesley love quadrangle. The only one currently on the show is Monica and perhaps there may be a little something rekindled with the two.

Should definitely be interesting. Carlivati promises there will be a "emotional payoff" for the audience.
